Warts are a common skin condition in both men and women. Mostly found on hands and feet, warts are contagious and can last for years. Warts often disappear on their own but some need treatment especially if they appear on the face or the inside of your mouth, for instance. These warts which are caused by the HPV virus should not be confused with seborrheic warts, also known as seborrheic keratosis. These conditions are not related.

On the other hand, flat warts are smooth and are characterized by a flat surface. Lumps of these appear mostly in children. There are many ways to remove warts depending on the severity. The most popular one is the use of duct tape. Apply the duct tape to your warts, wait for a few minutes then peel it off. It can be done over and over again until all your warts disappear. Another home remedy is the Vitamin C method wherein you wet the vitamin C tablet and rub it on the warts. This should be done diligently if you want your warts to disappear. Radish, garlic and castor oil are great for rubbing too. Soaking your hands or feet in hot water is said to be effective too. By doing this daily for 15 minutes, warts will slowly fade away.
Also widely used are surgical methods that most doctors recommend. Burning warts with the use of an electric current is one. Cryosurgery, on the other hand freezes them with liquid nitrogen.
Applying salicylic acid is also a good way to remove warts. By applying this everyday after a shower or bath, you will be able to file away the dead surface of warts.
The application of cantharidin is another effective way to treat warts. This chemical is applied and bandaged until the doctor can remove the dead surface of the wart.
Using laser treatment is one of the most well known surgical methods. This is always used as the last option as it is expensive to undergo this treatment.
In some countries, they have their own way to cure warts. This is through the use of hypnosis and the power of suggestion. Their belief is that the mind is the most powerful tool in getting rid of warts.
