How to Avoid Warts on Hands

How to Avoid Warts on Hands

Warts are contagious.  Warts are easily transferred from one person to another by mere touching of the warts.  This is because HPV or Human Papillomavirus easily moves from one host to another.  In addition, within the body of the person who has warts, he may also transfer the warts from its current location into other parts of his body by mere touching.

Thus, if you want to avoid warts on hand, it is necessary that you keep your hands dry.  HPV thrives for a long time even without a host in moist and damp areas.

Keep your hands and fingers dry.  If you sweat profusely, you have to wipe your hands immediately.  You may also need to use powder to keep your hands dry.

Another way to avoid warts caused by HPV is to strengthen your immune system.  Some people who may have HPV in their system but have strong immune system may not develop warts.  However, a person who may touch them and who has a cut or scrape in the skin coupled by weak immune system may develop warts by touching the person with HPV.

It is therefore extremely necessary that you strengthen your immune system if you do not want warts to affect your life.

In case you have developed hand warts, it is necessary that you avoid picking on it or cutting it with nail clippers.  This is because you will spread the virus if you do so.

Likewise, it may help to know that there are several ways to get rid of hand warts.  You may prefer to remove warts on your fingers or the back of your hand by home remedies.

Most home remedies may be performed without others knowing that you ever had hand warts.  What you should do is to clean your hands with soap and water.

Then, use duct tape on your wart.  Leave it for 5 to 6 days.  After which, you will have to soak your hand in warm water.  Scrape the dead skin from the warts.  Repeat the process until you are able to clear the warts.

Another method is garlic.  Garlic is known for its antibacterial properties.  You have to crush fresh garlic and apply it directly into the wart.  You may want to put bandage on the wart overnight to keep the garlic properties in the warts.  Repeat the process every night until you see the warts are gone.

Fresh potatoes may also work in removing hand warts.  Cut a fresh potato in the size of the wart.  Then, put the potato into the wart and band it together.  Leave it overnight.  Then, just like in the duct tape process, every time you will change the potato in the wart, you have to soak you wart in warm water and scrape off dead skins.  Repeat the process until you see the warts have disappeared.

Hand warts are common warts and they are less intrusive, while these home treatments will take a while to clear your skin of warts, they are effective, less expensive and easy to perform.

If in case, you will need a quick fix on the warts in your hands, a medical professional will help to get rid of your hand warts easily.  The process may be a bit costly but they are instantaneous.  Thus, many people run to their doctors when they see small raised bumps with rough edges in their hands and fingers.

Additionally, going to the doctor will confirm that what you have is non-cancerous and not harmful warts rather than a serious medical condition.

Even for people who wants to take the route of home remedies for their warts, going to the doctor will be beneficial to ensure that the growth is a mere wart and nothing serious.

Clearing Up The Wart Myths

By Susan Fielding

Warts in reality are nothing more than benign tumors of the skin that come about from a viral infection. The virus which is responsible is the human papillomavirus (HPV), a DNA virus that is double stranded, much like the DNA itself. The virus locates itself in the bottom layer of the skin and clones into fairly normal-looking skin. There are multiple types of HPV that each cause different types of warts. Some HPV subtypes also have the potential to cause cervical cancer, and also other more vague types of wart-related cancers, of which none are that common.

Contrary to popular belief, warts have no roots growing inside your hand. They only create themselves in the epidermis, which is the top layer of skin. When they grow in a downward direction, they dislodge the layer of skin that is below the epidermis, the dermis. The warts will never reach the dermis and never will grow into the dermis either. The underside of a wart is actually made up of smooth strands.

Warts have the ability to occur in people of all ages, but mostly in children and young adults. They are spread through direct contact, simply through the touching of another wart. They will normally cure themselves, but no two will cure themselves in the same timeframe. Most will take only weeks or months, but it is not uncommon to find those that take years. The immune system of the person determines how susceptible they are to the transmission of the warts. Those with diseases such as AIDS that directly reduce your immune system will see the warts last longer periods of time than those who have healthy immune systems.

Most warts can be cured through the use of over the counter medications. If you are someone that is resistant to these medications, there are other options for you. Salicylic acid is one common treatment, and is also very effective, but it necessitates consistent treatments each day. Salicylic acid can be used in many forms that include a thick oil base, or incorporated into a plaster material form. Cryotherapy is also a productive treatment. This simply is where the warts will be frozen on the hand using a form of liquid nitrogen. Once frozen, the wart can then be easily removed from the skin with no effects. If the warts are on your feet, you should not use the cryotherapy method because there is the chance that a blister could develop and become painful.

<a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);” href=”http://commonwartcures.com/pages/15-hand-warts.html”>Hand warts</a> are a common occurrence. Many people develop these bumps on their hands and fingers. Hand warts are just one of the many strains of the human papilloma virus or HPV. HPV can be passed to new people without there being any growths or symptoms.

These growths can vary in color from red to skin colored or white. They also vary is shape and size. Hand warts are typically common warts or flat warts. The flat warts can be as small as a pinhead and are found in clusters. Common warts often resemble cauliflower.

Creams and lotions that contain acid are commonly used to treat warts. The acid burns or freezes off the growth. Doctors may also also cut off the growths. But some people think this method is inefficient because later the growth grows back because parts of the wart are not removed or killed and the growths come back.

Hand <a rel=”nofollow” onclick=”javascript:_gaq.push(['_trackPageview', '/outgoing/article_exit_link']);” href=”http://commonwartcures.com/”>warts</a> can treated naturally with all natural oils. These chemicals can be as effective as other treatments and is painless and fast. The oils are applied topically and they counteract the virus and remove all types of warts. The oils take about 2-6 weeks to work depending on the size and the persons immune system. Also the natural oils do not cause scaring or pain like some treatments.

When choosing the right treatment for you it will depend on where the growths are located, how severe they are and how many you have. You should also consider the types of warts. Many over-the-counter products are not approved for treating sensitive areas like the face and genitals, these areas often require doctor visits. Natural products are a great option but it is important you investigate the products to ensure they truly work. No matter what option you choose it takes time to remove warts and you risk reinfection so be sure not to pick at the skin and keep your hands clean to ensure you do not spread the virus to other parts of your skin.

Flat Wart Removal – A Step by Step Guide

Warts are ugly skin growths that are caused by a human papillomavirus or HPV.  Children are commonly afflicted by warts which may usually grow on the face, elbows, hands, or knees.  They can be flat or somewhat raised and they often come out in clusters.  Flat warts don’t cause cancer, but they can easily be spread through contact.

Here’s an easy to follow guide to flat wart removal:

Step1

The quickest way to prevent flat warts from spreading is by not picking on them. Picking on your warts will only spread them to other areas of your body which are not infected.

Step2

Check out your local drug store and get an over-the-counter medicine that can be used to treat flat warts. Normally, the composition of these medicines includes a chemical that dries up the outer portion of skin which makes it easier to peel it off.

Step3

If the warts still prove to be bothersome and annoying, schedule an appointment with your doctor. He can either freeze or burn the warts off, or hand you a prescription for medication that will best treat your warts.

Step4

If your prescription gets to be costly and impractical, you can always do your own research and check some alternative treatments.   For starters, you can tape a small piece of the inside of a banana peel to the wart and sleep with it nightly for two weeks straight.  You can also make a paste from crushed vitamin C tablets by adding a little water and applying it directly to the wart for two weeks. Another thing that you may try is placing some crushed or sliced garlic on the wart for a week while sleeping.

Step5

If all else fails, just wait for your flat warts to go away.  When the warts are left alone, most of them will disappear on their own within two years.

Just remember that the secret to flat wart removal is persistence.  Don’t get tired of continuing the treatment until all traces of the wart infection are gone.  Always use fresh towels and washcloths when bathing and drying off.  Since this is caused by a virus that can easily be spread, you can as easily re-infect yourself as well.    To be on the safe side, it is best to consider checking everyone in your household for warts so that you can treat everyone at once and help prevent re-infection.

Another great idea is to add vitamin C to your diet as supplements.  It is beneficial as it helps give your immune system the extra strength to fight viral and bacterial infections of all sorts.

Bear in mind that the goal here is to catch your warts in its early stages.  Flat wart removal will be quicker this way, and it will be a lot less likely to return. Take note, however, that when a wart is more pronounced or overly large, or show signs that it has already established itself on your skin, the treatment can take longer and can be a real pain.  So nip it at the bud while you still can!
