Warts – How to Deal With Them

Warts are caused by the Human Papilloma Virus. One thing that is very important to know when treating warts is not to touch them directly with your hands. In so doing you may inadvertently spread them to other body parts. There are different kinds of warts, the common warts which can appear on the hands, is dome-shaped and gray brown in color.

If you were to touch someone with a wart, there is no guarantee that you will get it. The time from when you are exposed to the virus and when the warts appear on your skin varies. It may be weeks or months. Warts, in general tend to grow very slowly and they are generally not dangerous. Warts usually go away on their own and that may take from 6 months up to 2 years after contracting the virus.

The other kind are flat warts, which are pink or yellow and is usually flat and tend to appear on the face. There is also the planter warts that can develop on the bottom on your foot. They can be uncomfortable since they interfere with your walk. If you are concerned about what causes warts and their appearances on your skin and want to remove them, you can try to remove them yourself using an over the counter medication.

One thing that is very common that you can use to treat the warts is castor oil. Using a cotton swab, rub the warts with generous amount of castor oil, preferably once in the morning and once in the evening. After that, use a piece of tape of bandage to cover the wart and let the castor oil do its magic. This technique works best with flat wart on your hand and face.

Soaking the warts in hot water (not burning water) has proven quite effective in getting rid of them. You may try soaking them in hot water for five to ten minutes a day and see if that proves to be a good solution for you! After all no wart removal system works until you give them a try. You can talk with your doctor who can use liquid nitrogen (cryosurgery) to freeze the warts until they fall off. Your doctor can also use laser treatment in case of a stubborn one.

How to Remove Plantar Warts

Warts are the most common infection of the skin caused by HPV virus. The virus grows in warm, moist environments, such as those created in a locker room or in your shoes when your feet perspire and the moisture is trapped. Plantar warts grow on the plantar, or bottom surface of the foot. Planter warts are caused by viral infection. The nasty little virus sneaks into your feet through cuts so small so as to avoid detection. Planter warts can spread quickly on your body, as well as to others. About 10 percent of teenagers have warts. Plantar warts affect females slightly more often than males. Plantar warts may occur at any age.

Although they are more common in children and teenagers. Risk factors include repeated HPV exposure (e.g., walking barefoot in public locker rooms and common bathing areas) and having a weakened immune system. In some cases, the virus can be transmitted to the feet from other areas of the body. Plantar warts can be destroyed with surgery, by freezing with liquid nitrogen, or with other chemicals. The CO2 laser is the most effective method for treating warts, but it is also the most expensive method. The treatment used on your plantar warts depends on their location and size, your type of skin, and medical judgment.

Lasers produce little scarring and are effective in most cases. Salicylic acid patches, applied on a daily basis, and good foot hygiene, including regular use of a pumice stone, are often all that is needed. Cryotherapy involves freezing warts with a very cold solution that destroys the virus and causes the wart to turn black and fall off within a few days. This treatment is ineffective in some cases. Topical application of dilute glutaraldehyde (a virucidal chemical, used for cold sterilization of surgical instruments) is an older effective wart treatment. To reduce your risk for getting plantar warts, be sure to wear shower thongs or sandals.

When you use a public locker room or shower. Use foot powders and change your socks frequently to keep the feet dry. Duct tape therapy” covered their warts in duct tape for six days, then soaked their warts in water, and gently rubbed warts with an emery board or pumice stone. Imiquimod cream is an immunotherapy medication that encourages your body to release immune system proteins to help ward off warts. You can apply this cream directly to your warts. Don’t go barefoot in public areas. Wear shoes or sandals in public pools and locker rooms. Don’t pick at warts. Picking may spread the virus.

Wart removal question?!?!?!?!?

Hello,

Tomorrow I am going to the podiatrist to get my tough plantar warts removed. We tried EVERYTHING. Duct tape, Compound W, scraping, acid treatment, freezing, and NOTHING worked. After going to the podiatrist for a session of acid treatment and scraping, he said that they were stubborn and he will need to “scoop the out”. All seven warts (yes, seven) are on the ball (top, right below toes) of my foot. He said he will give me around three numbing shots, and then scoop them out :D :( He said I will then have to wear bandages and be off my foot for a few days. So my question:

Have you had this done before, and if so, how was it like. I’m not nervous, I went through all of the scraping and acid and stuff, and I have had surgeries before. I’m just wondering. Any responses would be greatly appreciated.

The thing that hurts the most is the numbing shots. It will burn then go numb. This is a minor surgery so I wouldn’t worry about it.

Which wart removal works best?

I have done research and have came down to two medications for wart removal. The Dr. Scholls dual action remover and the Compound W wart remover. The wart is located on arm. Any suggestions as to which one is more effective and really works to removing the wart?

The only remedy guaranteed absolutely, positively to work is surgical, by a dermatologist.

You can freeze or otherwise remove with a patent remedy. It may or may not work: in other words, your mileage may vary.
